Corporate Profile

By President: Greg Kramer

Back in 1990, C&G Technologies was born out of necessity with the most humble of beginnings. Our first service contract brought in $1000/mo. and our first business computer was a little 386 with a 40mb disk drive... How could you possibly fill up a drive that big? My field of expertise is in electronics. I began doing field service as an engineer trained with General Electric Medical Systems in 1980. We serviced the Louisville, KY area hospitals, and I have to say now, after seeing service all around the world, that our operation was definitely top notch. After 3½ years, I left GE and started working for a company teamed up with R-Squared out of California. DMS was my home for 6 years, and we serviced more scanners in the area than GE at one point, up until 1990 when DMS went another direction and C&G was formed.

In the beginning, I was required to do service work, board repair, refurbishing, sales, and technical support, in addition to handling any other business needs that would arise. I thank God for a wonderful wife and partner, Joy. She helped me through the challenges of running a small business by doing a lot of the paperwork and helping to manage our cash flow, in addition to countless other jobs... You guys out there know what a blessing a good woman can be.

Then, in 1996, I hired our first service engineer to help with the workload. This move forward brought new talent and possibilities into C&G with combined experience on the GE 9000, 9800's, Sytec, and Pace CT's. We began doing a lot of technical support, which opened up the opportunity for parts sales and many long-term relationships. For a couple of years, I tried selling equipment from the broker network, but found that it was very difficult for several reasons. Sometimes, the unit was sold before my customers made up their minds, the machine was not as represented, or it would be delayed for who knows what reason, and so on. Once we began buying for stock, things became much better. Now we controlled the sale, the quality, and the timing. People appreciate getting straight answers, and right away. They like to be able to come into a facility and see a CT up and running without a lot of hassles.

Another added benefit to having our equipment in stock and in staging bays is the incredible learning experience. We have learned more from our in-house operations than most people do in years of fieldwork due to the number of units coming and going in addition to having unlimited access. Proof of this is evident when you look at the achievements of our service engineers. Thanks to their efforts, we have been able to perform complex tasks such as multi-slice detector repairs and even replacement of gantry main bearings.

I am pleased to report that we are now operating out of a new and modern warehouse that is seven times the size of our previous location. The new site has eight fully equipped staging bays with track lighting, and enough power to run all eight CT bays at once. It is 100% environmentally controlled and filtered to provide a clean and quiet work atmosphere. We have a growing board repair operation with 3 robotic signature analyzers, a specialized unit for replacing Ball Grid Array I.C. chips, and much more. We have a huge inventory area that is computerized with a bar code labels, and a full sized UL approved automotive paint booth. A few years ago, we had a custom built tube processing station built for us. This enables us to also refurbish the x-rays tubes on the CT systems we sell, which represents an added value that no one else is doing that I know of. We also have a woodshop so we can custom build shipping crates as the need arises.

There are two things that I attribute mostly to our success. The first is honesty, and the other is taking care of problems. We have always taken care of our customers when things go wrong, and in this business it is going to happen from time to time. Our shipping and parts department does a superb job with this. But taking care of your customer when problems arise is nothing special... I think it should be standard procedure for every company in this business! A lot of our business is from repeat customers. This reflects highly on the job our team is doing and I am proud of them for the work that they do day in and day out... Thanks everyone!

Another benefit we offer to our customers is a support network. After the sale, our customers only need to make one call for access to parts and technical support. I believe this to be a very nice selling point as it helps our customers support their equipment in a cost effective manner. We have over 52 scanners in stock for parts support, testing, research, and sales.

C&G gives its customers honest value in what we sell, and it is all backed up with a guarantee. This is especially important with X-Ray tubes, both new and used. Our warranty failure rate on used tubes is less than 10%. This is largely due to the selection of product and the preparation before hand. It costs more to do this initially, but in the long run, everyone wins. We all want a great deal when we buy something, and we are sensitive to that. But we also know that cutting corners only costs more in the long run. Do it right the first time, and protect your investment, your time, and your reputation. This is a formula that has worked well for us, and we will continue to use it as a model for our company in the coming years. People are counting on this equipment with their lives and it's up to us to make sure it performs the way it was intended to.

Thank you for your time, and if you ever need anything to do with CT, please give us a call and we will do our best to meet your needs.
